False ceiling design ideas
POP and gypsum ceiling designs for every room, with notes on lighting, colours and what works in humid weather.
InspirationThe right false ceiling design hides wiring and AC pipes, adds soft layered lighting and gives a room a finished look. In many Indian homes it's also the easiest way to make a plain room feel special.
The ideas here cover living rooms, bedrooms, halls, kitchens and pooja rooms. You'll find simple borders with cove lights, multi-level ceilings, wooden strips, profile lights and classic hand-made POP design work.
Before you pick a ceiling design
Check your ceiling height: below about 9.5 feet, stick to a slim border or a flat ceiling with spotlights. Fix any roof seepage first, because damp will crack any ceiling. Plan the fan, AC and lights together so nothing clashes. And choose the material by room: gypsum for living areas and bedrooms, moisture-resistant boards or PVC for kitchens and bathrooms, and POP where you want curves.
